Old South Maternity Care Doctors
Dr. Cheryl Smits, BSc, MD, CCFPDr. Smits completed her medical degree at the University of Western Ontario, and her residency in Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia.
After starting a family practice in Vancouver, she completed her Enhanced Skills Fellowship training in Obstetrics at BC Women's Hospital in Vancouver. She has practiced family medicine obstetrics since 2007, and returned to London in 2010. She strongly believes in the value of family-centred maternity care, and sought like-minded physicians to create Old South Maternity Care in 2013. On top of a very rewarding career, she enjoys reading, running, beach volleyball, triathlon, music, and spending time with her husband and 3 children (who were all delivered by her family doctor!). |
Dr. Laurence Dales, BSc, MD, CCFPDr. Dales obtained her Medical Degree at McMaster University. She then completed her Family Medicine Residency and enhanced skills training in Obstetrics at Queen’s University.
She is passionate about Women’s Health and Family Medicine-centered maternity care. She aims to provide an evidence-based and patient-centered experience. In addition to her career she enjoys exercising, reading, traveling and spending time with her husband and sons. |
Dr. Paige Hacking, BSc, MD, CCFPDr. Hacking obtained her medical degree at the University of Calgary and completed her residency in Family Medicine at Queen’s University. Interested in providing primary obstetrical and newborn care, she pursued an Enhanced Skills Fellowship at Queen’s University.
After practicing briefly in northern Canada, she moved to London in 2017 to join the Old South Maternity clinic. Dr. Hacking is excited to be a part of a team of passionate individuals providing exceptional patient-centered care spanning all life stages and transitions. She is currently Program Director for the Obstetrics and Women's Health Enhanced Skills Program at Western University. Outside of work, she enjoys running, tap dancing, yoga, and travelling. |
Dr. Caitlin Thompson, BHSc, MD, CCFPDr. Thompson completed medical school at Western University as part of the charter class for the satellite campus in Windsor, ON. She then came back to her hometown of London to complete her Family Medicine Residency and did a fellowship in Obstetrics and Women's Health through Western in London and Chatham.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading and travelling as well as running, biking, swimming and hiking. |
Dr. Emily Bachmeier, BHSc, MD, CCFPDr. Bachmeier obtained her Medical Degree, Family Medicine Residency training, and Enhanced Skills fellowship training in Obstetrics and Women’s Health all at Western University.
She is excited to have joined the group at Old South Maternity Care and to be practicing with a group of like-minded Family Physician’s who are passionate about comprehensive Family Medicine and Women’s Health. Outside of work she enjoys reading, yoga, trying new recipes, and traveling. |
